Animal Welfare Links

Welcome! This page contains links to organisations which do not actively campaign for animal rights and are mostly concerned with promoting animal welfare and/or caring for and rehoming rescued animals. Of course, many of these organisations do campaign against animal neglect as part of their work.

The RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is an organisation which rescues animals from abuse and neglect, looks after and attempts to rehome abandoned animals, organises the neutering and vaccination of stray animals and helps owners to locate their missing pets. This website is easy to use and very informative. It contains emotive images.

The PDSA (Peoples Dispensary for Sick Animals) is a charity which provides treatment for animals whose owners can't afford to pay vets fees. Cats, dogs and rabbits are all covered along with smaller creatures such as hamsters and guinea pigs. Owners must meet the criteria given on their website but their pets are treated completely free of charge and the charity relies on donations.

This site is devoted to Handipets Animal Sanctuary which is a sanctuary for sick and disabled animals considered 'unadoptable' by most people. Many of them have been extremely traumatised by their experiences and need round-the-clock care but they have a good quality of life. On this site you can read the animals stories and make a donation towards their care.

www.littlewoman.zoomshare.com
This site is devoted to the Little Woman Home for Animals which looks after abandoned animals, rehoming the healthy ones and providing continual care for the old and the sick. The Home also campaigns for people to have their pets neutered and actively opposes all animal cruelty. The site has a shop and all proceeds go back into funding their vital work.
