Welcome To Veggie Chick!
Me
Welcome to Veggie Chick! and welcome to my 'Me' page. That's me (obviously!). I'd like to introduce myself and tell you a bit about me. I'll try not to go on too long. If you haven't already, please take a few minutes to read about Veggie Chick! and the ideas behind it. Click here.
My name is Alex Mills.
I am 17
I live in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England.
I have two brothers and a sister. As you can probably imagine, it gets quite chaotic in our house on weekday mornings but most of the time we get on ok. We have three cats and from time to time other animals as we take in sick animals to nurse them back to health. We've looked after hedgehogs, birds and even a puppy! As you might expect, we couldn't let him go and ended up adopting him. You can see him on the home page.
Being a veggie is very easy. It was hard at first as I had to give up lots of my favourite foods and I didn't eat a very healthy diet as I knew nothing about vegetarian nutrition. Then I dscovered Viva!, VegSoc and Animal Aid and started to campaign for animal rights. I now enjoy being a veggie a lot more. I'd like to become vegan one day but not in the near future.
I really enjoy working on Veggie Chick! and taking part in animal rights activites at school. I also volunteer at roadshows and events whenever they happen in my area and take part in events organised by my local animal rights group and veggie society. With them, I have volunteered on stalls, done street collections and being on some interesting outings.
When I'm not working on my website or on other campaigns, I enjoy listening to music (I like most music) and reading. I write poetry sometimes and I enjoy reading real-life magazines. I have a large crystal collection but I also collect cat ornaments and little souvenirs from everywhere I go. I'm really adventurous and I'll try most things once. I've done abseiling, parascending and scuba diving and I love rollercoasters- the longer, the faster and the more loops, drops and corkscrews there are the better. The best one I've been on so far? The Pepsi Max 'Big One' on Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Flamingo Land has a new rollercoaster called 'Kumali' and that's very good too.
At school, I'm in the Sixth Form (Lower Sixth) and studying for AS Levels in German, Spanish, English Language and Psychology. I did well in my GCSE's but then changed schools for 6th Form, to go to one which specialises in languages. I'm also taking an evening class in Greek.
