I hope to add more links to this page in future so if you start a veggie blog or get a relevant article published, let me know!
Videos
Face the Truth
This extremely moving and inspiring short film introduces the website AnimalCruelty.com. More like an introduction to a collection of websites than a website in itself, it's well worth looking at.
PETA TV
PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is an international animal rights organisation with an 'office' in practically every country in Europe and beyond. PETA TV is their online TV station which has a number of 'channels' including 'Cruel Science' and 'Domestic Animal Issues'. On these channels, you'll find a huge collection of videos to view and download. There's also 'Action Alerts' and a PETA membership form.
Articles
A Guide to Vegetarianism and Veganism.
I found this useful guide on the CBBC Newsround website. It gives an accurate outline of vegetarian and vegan diets, including nutritional information and an overview of the reasons why people turn veggie or vegan. It also includes quotes and links to related articles and sites of interest. I enjoyed it as it is accurate but easy to understand and positive in its representation of vegetarianism and veganism.
Vegetarianism- Food for Thought
This article appears in the 'teen' section of the NHS Children First for Health website created by Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. It was written by Sam McCreesh, a well-known activist at Viva! and Animal Aid, to mark Vegetarian Month. In it, Sam describes why and how he turned veggie then vegan and how his parents reacted, giving some useful advice. Reading about Sam's activites inspired me to get active. Will he inspire you too?
I'm a Vegan
Sam also wrote this article which appears on the CBBC Newsround website. In it he describes, as above, turning veggie and then vegan giving lots of useful tips, links and nutritional advice. As in the previous article, Sam offers a positive and valuable insight into vegetarianism and veganism.
Know More
Know More is a database of articles which anyone can edit, similiar to Wikipedia, which will tell you the truth about well-known companies, brands and products. Simply type a keyword into the 'Search' field on the home page to find relevant articles about a company's human and animal rights standards, trading practices and ethical policies. You can also find out about relevant health scares related to products. The site also includes an overview of ethical issues related to business, up-to-date news, a blog, FAQ section and a shop.
Blogs
Veggie Head
Veggie Head is more of a chatroom than a blog but I've put it here nonetheless. Here you can reply to other users comments or introduce new topics yourself on any of the many forums available including 'Animal Testing' and 'Veggie Newbies'- where new veggies can put their concerns to more experienced ones for help. I like this blog because it's well designed and simple to use. It's also safe, thanks to the dedicated team of moderators and the range of privacy options available for members. You don't even need to register as you can leave comments anonymously as a 'guest'.
Vegan Lunch Box
Vegan Lunch Box is the blog of an American woman who is raising her young son as a vegan. In it, she cronicles their daily lives and the delicious lunches she packs him for school, based on her bestselling book Vegan Lunch Box. From pitta chips with hummus/houmous to vegetable crudites and mandarin oranges, the suggestions are really imaginative and colourful. They're great for veggies who are considering veganism too.
By Other Means
This blog belongs to a vegan family from Scotland. The children are home educated and the blog focuses on this but many of the posts are food related and there are some great links. The family also has a dedicated vegan website, Vegan Family House, where you'll find recipes, nutritional advice. tips for vegan parents and lots of links. I particularly enjoyed the guide to vegan Easter goodies as I never realised there were so many available.
